Northwood University is hosting a summer camp, but not the kind filled with crafts, canoeing and campfires.
The university's Full Tank Automotive Camp is open to high schoolers interested in learning more about the auto industry. The five-day camp in Midland, Mich., funded by General Motors, explores many of the industry's segments, including design, manufacturing, sales, marketing, service and aftermarket. It runs June 11-16.
According to the university, campers will:
- Discover their strengths and how their skills relate to the automotive industry
- Communicate through advertising
- Problem-solve in a business setting
- Learn how a profit center works
- Learn about the past, present and future of the automotive industry.
The camp also includes field trips, business tours and a minor league baseball game.
"With the guidance of current Northwood University students and faculty, campers will learn from industry professionals through hands-on exploration," Elgie Bright, chair of the automotive marketing/management program at Northwood University, said in a statement. "The lessons and skills that campers learn here can start a future business leader's career."
Northwood University is nationally recognized in the automotive industry for its undergraduate automotive studies and graduate-level automotive management programs.
